Do you think my dermatologist could cut tattoo off?

i have a tattoo i want removed. i don't really want to get it covered up and laser removal is too expensive. is there any other way? do you think my dermatologist could cut it off? it's not very big. maybe an inch high and half an inch wide.
I don't think any "good" doctor would take a knife and cut a hole in your skin. Then what is he going to do? Put it "back together" and your left with this awful scar. The only way to do it is through laser, but it can really hurt and cost a lot of money. Starting of in the 1,000's and your going to need several treatments. Plus, if you have any color on it, say blue, which is the hardest color to remove, it will never completely go away. The best way is to go to a good tattoo artist, one who will work with you, and try to come up with a cover-up that you like.

you would have to ask him wouldn't you, if i was you i would just use cover-up every day!but your a guy so i can see how that wouldn't be your first choice.

cut it off??? i can't imagine ANY dermatologist who would just cut off a piece of your skin like that. i think covering it up or laser removal are your only choices.... or maybe bleaching creme? i don't know...

laser is only way to remove it, you can't just cut it out as the ink is down into layers of the skin. laser breaks this ink up and allows it to pass into the blood stream, in turn removing the tat.laser treatment will leave a scar as well, that area will never be "normal" again.

Sad to say but nothing works right now. The laser treatment is a joke, you have to go back like 3 or 4 times, and it leaves a very pale white scar, it sucks! I'm stuck with 2 I want to get rid of, but there is nothing we can do about it. We should have listened to Mom!!

umm...there is a way you can get it cut out...but I doubt your dermatologist would do it but it will leave a really deep and huge scar and it would be about the same as having a tattoo

Hi YaThe only sure way to remove it is by laser which is a lenghy and expensive process. Because the needle goes through the outer layers of skin you would be left with a scare if tried to cut it out maybe it would be better to leave it it will fade with time anyway. By the way simple black tatoos are harder to laser out than colour.

Microdermabrasion can help, but it'll take several sessions (same with laser.) I'm in the middle of using Doc Sez products, and it's helping. No, your dermatologist will not cut it off. The risk of infection is too high. Try Doc Sez and microdermabrasion over the course of six months, and you should at least see a difference. Then cover it up with makeup for another six months, and try again.
